For those of you in the plumbing/design business whose clients may be looking for a little extra something for their bathroom accessories, look no further than renowned designer Michael S. Smith. His association with Kallista actually goes back to the year 2000, but it is year 2009 when he was catapulted to the front pages of every design article as the new designer at the White House for the Obamas. Chosen from an elite list, he is the visionary the First Couple have chosen to redesign the White House living quarters.
With this in mind, his designs for the bathroom are sleek, traditional and very sexy. The Spring 2007 catalog for Kallista’s new products include Smith’s fabulous ‘Town Collection.’ Recalling vintage faucets and handles - available not only in chrome but in a luscious black obsidian and green nephrite jade –Smith’s sets would look great in a new construction setting or in an old cottage or Victorian home. It is entirely up to you or the homeowner and the choices don’t stop there. His console tables have a spare dignity that would make any bathroom look absolutely stunning and the pedestal lavatory is a study in old fashioned ceramics.
Unfortunately Smith is not creating new products for Kallista in 2010, but with his past collections (including ‘Loft’ and ‘Country’)there are certainly plenty of products to choose from that are easy on the eye and readily available for the consumer at showrooms nationwide. So next time your clients ask you about what product you think they would like, mention the Obama’s designer and voila! Choice made.
